MESA COUNTY, Colo. — The Western Region One Source, along with community partners, have brought the Colorado panels of the Remembering Our Fallen Memorial to Grand Junction on Dec. 7, 2020.
This memorial commemorates military members from cities, towns and communities across the state who made the ultimate sacrifice during operations between 9/11 and the present. The larger memorial, with fallen from across the nation, was previously on display in Montrose in September 2020.
“We are honored to be able to house and display this important memorial,” The Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Laura Clellan said. “It is critically important that we remember our Colorado fallen and their Gold Star families, especially during this holiday season.”
The Colorado memorial consists of 52 fallen military service members. At times throughout the upcoming years, this memorial will tour the state as part of the “Cost of Freedom Tour,” but when it’s not on tour, it will be housed at the WROS. With pandemic precautions in place, the public can visit the WROS during normal business hours and view the memorial at no cost.
A community partnership made it possible to bring the Colorado memorial panels to Colorado and display them indefinitely in Western Colorado.
