Colorado National Monument Clean Despite Gov. Shutdown

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Human feces and trash are piling up at national parks thanks to the partial government shutdown as the Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service remained closed.  So what are the conditions of the Western Slope’s national park and hiking trails managed by the BLM.

The McInnis Canyon National Conservation Area which is managed by the BLM, but trash and human waste isn’t a problem in the area.

The Colorado National Monument is also clean, as the restrooms remain closed along with the visitor center.

Other national parks across the nation haven’t been so lucky.  The Yosemite National Park in California has experienced overflowing trash cans and human feces according to an anonymous park ranger at Yosemite.

So keep up the good work trail visitors and Monument tourists!
