GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - It's been categorized as the deadliest shooting in US history, with at least 59 people dead and 500 hurt. Meanwhile, Coloradans are already mourning with those who have lost their lives.
Governor Hickenlooper ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff immediately to honor the victims of the attack.
He also tweeted to show his support, stating that: "Our thoughts are with the victims and loved ones affected by the senseless violence in Las Vegas. We are with you during this tragic time."
Several other state officials tweeted as well, including senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner.
Bennet tweeted, "Devastating news. Our hearts go out to all of the victims and their families in Las Vegas."
Gardner tweeted shortly after, "Horrific images coming out of Las Vegas this morning. My family and I are praying for the families of those injured and killed."
Representative Scott Tipton and Attorney General candidate Michael Dougherty issued statements as well sending their condolences.
Dougherty stated that mass shootings are preventable, and ended by saying that our country deserves an answer to senseless gun violence.
