GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Grand Junction VA Hospital held its annual Stand Down event at First Congregational United Church on 5th Street on Friday.

Veterans facing homelessness came to the event to pick up winter gear, get quick healthcare treatment, and learn about VA housing and shelter programs.

Winter gear included Department of Defense certified coats, boots, and sleeping bags.

Veterans could also get free flu shots and dental care, and take the initial steps to get enrolled in some of the VA’s housing programs.
