MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — Community Hospital has opened a new pediatric therapy clinic. The new site is located at 715 Horizon Drive, Suite 200. Grand Valley Pediatric provides a safe and welcoming environment for children while also offering skilled pediatric therapy services.
Therapists are tasked with working together to create individualized treatment plans for children with special needs. These treatment plans establish goals that are uniquely based on the specific needs of each child and their family. Therapy is then carried out with an emphasis on creativity and fun, where every child can be successful.
Occupational therapists on the other hand are tasked with helping children achieve goals related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, activities of daily living, executive functioning, feeding, and a multitude of others. Children and those with special needs specifically stand to benefit from occupational therapy the most.
Enhancing mobility is the main focus of pediatric physical therapists at Grand Valley Pediatric. The focus is on improving skills that help children take part in important movement activities such as crawling, walking, running, and playing games. in addition to this, physical therapists teach children how to navigate mobility aids, such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and other supports, safely in various environments.
Speech-language pathologists assist in helping children achieve goals related to enhanced communication. This is essential as impaired communication can affect every aspect of a child’s life. Whether it be learning, playing, interacting socially, or creating relationships communication is key making it one of the most fundamental and important skills. Speech Pathologists also help infants and children with feeding, suckling, and swallowing difficulties related to an oral motor or oropharyngeal disorders.
