MESA COUNTY, Colo. – It’s a girl! The first baby to be born in 2021 at Community Hospital made her debut on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 8:24 pm. Community Hospital’s first New Year’s baby weighed 6 lbs, .5 oz. Both mom and baby are doing well. Due to  COVID-19, we are unable to allow media into our labor and delivery unit this year out of an abundance of caution to help protect our patients. The media is invited to set up a Zoom meeting with the new parents through the Community Hospital marketing department.

“This past year was particularly challenging with COVID-19 and we are very excited to ring in the New Year in this special way,” said Marsha Bagby, Director of The Birth Place at Community Hospital. “The Birth Place has been open just under five years now and we have been extremely humbled by the support we have received since opening in March 2016. We very much look forward to a brighter year ahead. We congratulate this wonderful family and all of the families who are welcoming their bundles of joy in the New Year,” added Bagby.

The labor and delivery unit at Community Hospital features eight labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) suites, each with a private jetted tub and one cesarean section operating room. Expectant parents also enjoy private parking, and a private entrance with an elevator that takes them directly to the labor and delivery unit. Each family also enjoys a steak and shrimp dinner prior to leaving the hospital or has the option to take home a beautiful gift basket to enjoy at a later date to celebrate their new bundle of joy.

As a special gift for being the first New Year’s baby born at Community Hospital in 2021, mom and baby will be presented with a gift basket from the Community Hospital Foundation containing generously donated items such as a gift certificate from Target, leather booties from Pinque Boutique, dinner at Enzo’s Ristorante Italiano, baby items from Colorado Baby, goodies from the Community Hospital Gift Shop and more!
