GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- UPDATE (11/7): After a violent beating at a Domino’s near the Grand Junction High School campus, the student responsible is being charged with third-degree assault and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing next month.

A violent incident involving a Grand Junction High student is captured on a cell phone. The student who was assaulted was left with a concussion among other injuries. This incident is being investigated by the Grand Junction Police Department.

The incident occurred Tuesday during one of GJHS’ off-campus lunch periods. D51 school officials say staff cannot be physically responsible for what happens off campus, that’s GJPD’s jurisdiction.

But, the school can suspend or expel alleged perpetrators in an assault case whether they are on or off campus.

A family friend of the victim is providing support through her local business. She has rallied various community members to provide this GJHS student with flowers, gift cards, and other gifts to help her through this difficult time.
