COVID-19 Concerns: Fruita Fall Festival and Mike the Headless Chicken Festival canceled

Local News

FRUITA, Colo. — Continuing concerns over the coronavirus are leading to more events in Mesa County being canceled.

Officials with the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce are announcing this year’s Fruita Fall Festival will not be happening.

Organizers say the decision did not come easily, but after consulting with Mesa County Public Health regarding outdoor events based on the changing COVID rules from the state, the board of directors voted to cancel the festival.

Staffers are reaching out to vendors and event sponsors, to work out any necessary refunds.

But the bad news doesn’t stop there. Officials with the City of Fruita Parks and Recreation Department are also announcing the cancellation of both the Mike the Headless Chicken Festival and the remainder of the Thursday Night Concert Series.

City administrators say they’ll continue to monitor all state and local requirements and use the best information available to safely offer services and programming.
