CSP Trooper William Moden has died after being struck by a car while on the scene of an accident, on I-70 between Limon and Peoria.
Colorado State Patrol says, Moden was outside of his patrol car assisting with a serious injury crash when he was hit by another car late Friday night after 9:00 PM.
The state patrol has not identified the driver of the other vehicle, or whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
William Moden is the 5th trooper to be killed on Colorado roads since 2015, several agencies held a procession in the early morning hours from the hospital to honor Moden.
Arapahoe County State Patrol Chief, Matthew Packard, said Moden was “an incredibly beloved guy,” and “he had a smile that was eclipsed only by the size of his heart.”
