Deceased identified, fatal CO National Monument accident

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. —

UPDATE: (10/24) The Mesa County Coroner’s Office says the victim in the fatal crash had a blood-alcohol level of .229%, almost three times the legal limit in Colorado.

A tragic Colorado National Monument incident occurred Friday, where a young man drove off a cliff and into a canyon.

The victim’s name and age have now been released. 21-year-old David Russell of Grand Junction is being identified as the deceased.

The Mesa County Coroners office is still investigating this death, and will have more information as the case continues.
