Mesa County is the fourth largest county in all of Colorado when it comes to land mass.
So, when the Clifton DMV closed, people from Collbran, De Beque, Loma and Mack were stuck driving into the Grand Junction DMV.
After an approval, of the lease agreement by the Mesa County Commissioners, those days should be over.
The reason for the re-opening was not due to an influx of money the county can spend, it was the people’s demand. Getting the Fruita and Clifton DMVs back in service was a campaign promise for Tina Peters during her bid for Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.
The Clifton DMV could be in operation by this summer, and should be open five days a week.
