GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — P.E Teacher Jim Haas was treated to pies in the face following a successful fundraiser for the American Heart Association’s “Kids Heart Challenge”. Students raised more than 7,500 dollars for the program.

Top fundraising students were awarded the chance to serve Mr. Haas a face full of pie.

“When I told them ‘you could slime me for $100 and pie me for $200, they got really excited. This year,” Jim Haas shares, “we actually exceeded out total that we did last year. Last year, we did $3754 and this year we did $7665.59. That’s a big reason why I did this today too, let the kids enjoy it and have it pay off for their hard work.”

Students raising more than 100 dollars also joined in on the action following their fundraising efforts — sliming Mr. Haas.

The Dual Immersion Academy raised so much money towards the “Kids Heart Challenge”, the school will get some of the money back for physical education equipment.

One fifth grader raised the most in the class at 255 dollars. Her reward is throwing a face full of pie at her teacher, Mr. Juan.
