Excessive heat warning, possible record temperatures for parts of western slope, eastern Utah

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo – Temperatures could be well over 100 degrees in western Colorado this week.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the area, and Mesa County Public health is also urging caution for anyone spending time outdoors. Record highs in Grand Junction are 106, but it is possible new record highs are set sometime this week.

The excessive heat warnings are in place for the Grand Valley, Paradox Valley, and eastern Utah. Avoid prolonged periods of exposure to the sun when possible, and drink plenty of water.
