Feeling peachy in Palisade

Local News

PALISADE, Colo – Live music entertainment, a peach pit bar, orchard booths filled with jams, and jellies; The Palisade Peach Festival is back and the peaches are a plenty.

“We actually have ten different varieties at our orchard, but today and in season right now we have the coral stars, red globe and the rosa peaches,” Caitlin Turner, Juicy Acres said. “My favorite is the coral star, typically they have more of a citrusy undertone, and I think it brings out a lot of unique flavor in the peach and then its very versatile in cooking and margaritas and salsas and whatever you want to use it for.”

After the tough year with the added devastating freeze growers endured, there is an uplifting energy in the valley. The sweet juiciness and flavor that makes a peach a Palisade peach has brought peach fans from around the country to Palisade to see for themselves what all the fuss is about.

“We decided to come to the Peach Festival this year, its a great day, the weather’s great, come see it,” Judah Woelfel, Pennsylvania resident said.

Palisade has a long history of growing the best tasting peaches and The Palisade Peach Festival is about celebrating the peaches, those who grow them, harvest them and the economic impact they have on the valley.

“We are very fortunate that we have a crop or a product that people get really excited about and its really fun to grow, and we really appreciate the support we get from the community and from customers as a whole,” Bruce Talbott, Talbott Farms said.

A 52-year-old tradition that grows with each season, this event is filled with activities and peaches that make this a true Palisade Peach Festival.
