Fire In Downtown Grand Junction

Grand Junction, CO - Thick smoke could be seen from blocks away as multiple structure fires in downtown Grand Junction results in a shut down of the surrounding area

A total of five structures including sheds caught fire near 4th and Ute.  Most of the buildings were empty except for one, a double wide trailer but that occupant was able to evacuate safely, and no other injuries were reported.

The Grand Junction Fire Department are currently investigating what caused the fire as the smoke in the area closed down Whitman park, along with 4th Street and 5th Street from Colorado Ave to Pitkin Ave.

The Grand Junction Police Department are asking people to avoid the area, as firefighters continue to work to keep the fire from spreading to any other buildings.
