All lanes are now open on Interstate 70 in Garfield County after crews make progress on a fire that earlier prompted a shutdown of the road from Parachute to Rulison.
A spokesman for the Grand Valley Fire Protection District said the blaze was reported shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday.
The fire began near Rulison, apparently involving a semi trailer, and eventually led to a major traffic backup after officials closed the interstate.
According to CDOT’s Twitter account, I-70 was fully reopened just after 8:30 Monday evening.
Crews are now in monitor mode for the next 24 to 48 hours.
