Fire Restrictions Delay Fall Burn Season

Local News

The fall open burn season in Mesa County is being delayed for a few days due to fire restrictions now in place.

Burn season would ordinarily have started on Thursday, but local officials say Stage I fire restrictions will remain in place until at least Saturday.

Authorities are urging the public to be cautious with activities that could ignite wildfires, as dry conditions improve.

Once restrictions are lifted, burn permits can be obtained from your local fire district or the Mesa County Health Department – but residents will have to wait until Tuesday since the department is closed on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday weekend.
