Local News

It’s a boy!

The Grand Valley’s first baby of 2020 was born at “The Birth Place” at Community Hospital.
A big, beautiful basket full of goodies was donated to the happy family from the hospital and some businesses. The state of Colorado is also making a donation to jump start the future of this baby boy, and all babies born and adopted in Colorado starting the first day of 2020.

The program is called, “First Step,” and its mission is to provide $100 for the college savings of every new baby born or adopted in Colorado. The contribution goes into a CollegeInvest 529 savings account with over $8 billion assets for over 375,000 accounts, and no taxpayer dollars.
