GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — After being postponed due to weather concerns, Fruita Chamber Foundation’s annual Cups for a Cure is on for Saturday, November 4.
The fundraiser aims to bring awareness to breast cancer and give back to local nonprofit groups that support community members fighting breast cancer.
Last year’s event raised a record $7,500 dollars, and they hope to surpass that number this year.
Cups for a Cure will have a chili and soup cookoff with local businesses and restaurants that will compete for the title of “Best Cup.” Tickets for the soup tasting are $10.
Marketing and Communications Director for Fruita Chamber Foundation Giselle Genova tells KREX the soup tasting isn’t the only way to participate.
“There’s a bunch of different ways people can participate. You can show up and do the soup tastings. We also have a silent auction where you can purchase items at [and the proceeds] go to breast cancer awareness. We also have live music, horse carriage rides, and the event itself is free to get into.
Cups for a Cure runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fruita Civic Center Park on East Aspen Avenue. To get tickets for the soup tasting in advance, visit Fruita Chamber Foundation’s website.
