Museums of the West are showing their appreciation towards active duty military families by becoming a Blue Star Museum.

What this means for military families is free admission at all historic sites, such as the Museum of the West in Downtown Grand Junction, and Cross Orchards Historic Site near the intersection of Patterson and 31 Road, and Dinosaur Journey Museum in Fruita.

“This is a chance for us to say ‘thank you’ to active duty personnel and also let them know a little bit about the heritage of the community, ancient history and paleontology, and more recent historical heritage of what they worked to save”, says Peter Booth the Executive Director for Museums of the West.

Up to five family members can attend and all military branches are covered, qualified active duty military must show a Geneva Convention Common Access card or a DD Form 1173 ID Card.

Active military families can enjoy this opportunity from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
