Race for CO-3: Diane Mitsch Bush on the Big Issues Facing Voters

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX/KFQX)- This Election Day, Western Colorado voters will elect a woman for the first time in history to represent them in Congress. The race is between democrat Diane Mitsch Bush and republican Lauren Boebert.

Diane Mitsch Bush is a former Routt County Commissioner and state representative from Steamboat Springs. She lost by about 8 percentage points to Rep. Scott Tipton in the 2018 midterms. She touts a strong bi-partisan record while working as state representative, and says working across the aisle is what the country needs right now.

MCPH say the Grand Valley can no longer be casual about COVID

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- In the past two weeks, Mesa County has recorded 579 new COVID-19 cases, and 33% of those cases are from an unknown source. The county considers this uptick in unknown spread as "community transmission," which means it is unclear where the source of exposure was, and therefore, there are more infected residents passing the virus on to others without knowing it.

For weeks Governor Polis has been stressing the state must do better to slow the spread. On October 27th, 2020 Governor Polis said, "we need to change the way we live. We need to stay safer at home." And the Mesa County Public Health agrees that our community can no longer be casual about COVID.

Crossroads Fitness is extra cautious about COVID

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- The rapidly rising positive cases of COVID has forced Mesa County to enter a Level One "Safer at Home" order. This order as well as the Variance Protection Program has been in affect since Monday, and the program encourages businesses to implement stronger safety measures to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Specifically, gyms have to reduce capacity to 25% or 75 people per room. However, Crossroads Fitness isn't worried about the change because it has been cautious about capacity since the start of the pandemic and has never allowed the maximum number of people to enter before.

The gym also has other safety measures in place to slow the spread. For instance, every member must get their temperature checked before they workout. In addition, the cardio machines are socially distanced, and masks are required while members walk around the fitness center, but the masks do not have to be worn when exercising. Still, for fitness fanatics that prefer to wear a mask, Crossroads offers "mask required" group classes.
