Girl Scouts honor 2021 Western Slope Women of Distinction

Local News

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Three women are acknowledged every year for contributions made across the Western Slope:

  • Dr. Diana Sirko, Mesa County Valley School District 51
  • Kathy Hall, Kathy Hall & Associates
  • Naomi Sikora, St. Mary’s Hospital and Regional Center

The honorees are surrounded by women of distinction of yesteryear while they all serve a role models for current Girl Scouts and the female leaders of the future.

The ceremony serves as an opportunity for the blended group of girl power to network.

“The courage and confidence and character that we teach our girls through our program really culminates in being able to honor them as they get older,” Girl Scouts of Colorado Regional Manager Ashley Douglas describes, “Being able to come here today and to see these women honored and gives them something to look forward to.”

“I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to serve this community and I’ve loved every minute of it and I hope to continue,” Women of Distinction Honoree Kathy Hall mentions during acceptance speech, “Sometimes, people say are you ever gonna quit. I think why would I quit now because I’m really having fun.”

Almost one thousand Girl Scouts are on the Western Slope so the ceremony did not just recognize leaders today. Donations were generously given to raise funds so the program continue in our area.
