GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — In efforts to go green, the City of Grand Junction introduces three new electic vehicle charging stations, at Las Colonias Business Park.
A unique groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday, but instead of actually ‘breaking ground’ or cutting a ribbon, like usual, Mayor Duke Wortmann did the first ‘plug in’ to one of the city’s electric cars.
The charging station provides electric vehicle charging for locals, tourists, and other visitors to the Riverfront at Las Colonias Park, one of Grand Junction’s newest growing attractions.
“We have 25 of them around the city now, it shows we are doing what’s right– and keeping our carbon footprint down, it important these days.” – Duke Wortmann, Grand Junction Mayor
All city chargers have been funded by Colorado Energy Office Grants with city matches.
