The opening of Grand Junction High School’s new and improved building is just a year away looming on the horizon. Clint Garcia, D51’s chief operations officer, tells me soon enough students and staff will be able to call the halls and classrooms of this towering new campus home. While the building itself is about a year out, contractors should finish the school’s new fields and some other amenities by June 2025. Recently though, the building hit a major milestone. The completion of the external frame. Current students and staff were even able to be part of the new school’s history going forward by signing the final steel beam.

Now onto the next steps. Contractors started on the internal framework in some areas and plumbing and electrical work is even being added. As other areas of the building wind down, walls can start going up and the new GJHS building is still on time and on budget.
