GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Grand Junction Police Department were seeking a man believed to be involved in the kidnapping of an Uber driver and stealing her car.
Adam Salaz has been arrested in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
On Friday, January 10 shortly after 11:30 p.m. , officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to the area of 25 Road and G Road on a report of a car crash.
Witnesses on scene say a driver jumped from a moving vehicle with a male passenger. Afterwards, the suspect drove off in the vehicle. By the time officers arrived on scene, the male passenger and vehicle were no longer in the area.
While officers were investigating the scene, a female approached them saying she was the original driver of the crashed car. She said she was an Uber driver who had picked up a male passenger in Fruita. During the ride, the male reportedly held her at gunpoint, and demanded she take him into the desert.
Medical personnel evaluated the female victim on scene, who suffered only minor injuries.
The suspect has been identified by the GJPD as Adam Salaz, 23, of Grand Junction, (see previous booking photo above).
