GRAND JUNCTION, Colo — For the fourth year in a row, the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce has a reason to celebrate. This week it received an award for Excellence in Economic Development from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), and it’s not just an award for the Chamber of Commerce, but the community as well.
The Chamber of Commerce won a silver category award for its Celebrating Leaders of Economic Development. This prestigious achievement is only given to the world’s best economic development programs. The IEDC received over 500 submissions from 4 countries, and Grand Junction was selected as a winner for its efforts in creating positive economic changes in the city.
The Chamber works hard to drive up wages, increase job opportunities, and build businesses, and those partnered with the Chamber say the economic developments can be recognized by local residents.
CJ Rhyne from the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce says, “I truly think people can notice the effects. If we weren’t doing what we are doing, and we didn’t have the collaboration from the community partners, I don’t think this place would be as good of a place to live, work, and play as it is.”
The Chamber of Commerce works to highlight local businesses, partnerships, and community collaborations, so it says this achievement also recognizes the the community’s successes.
