GRAND JUNCTION, Colo- More than 650 people died by firearm suicide last year in Colorado. Recently, a new initiative was started by the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and the Colorado Firearm Safety Coalition to combat this issue.
Around sixty-five gun shops and law enforcement agencies across the state have been identified as places to temporarily and safely store firearms. Firearm storage is not only for times of crisis. It’s most commonly used for when people may be moving, going on vacation, or are college students where guns are not allowed on campus.
However, despite this new online map that identifies gun shops and law enforcement as places to safely store guns, some gun shop owners and managers still have questions.
