Local News

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo- The chief’s platform is all about communication, collaboration, and training for the future of policing. His potential win will ultimately result in him being president of the association.

While his daily duties won’t change, if elected, he finds this position to be a great stage to showcase the GJPD’s success in its programs.

“‘I’m lucky enough to work with so many great professionals not only locally, but across the country and across the world,” Chief Doug Shoemaker expresses, “I’ve been lucky enough to learn from and s, collaboratively, my goal is to to really work with international places to better professionalize what we already do and hopefully lead us forward in the future.”

15 states in the U.S. have already endorsed the chief’s campaign. The IACP committee will vote for this position in September.
