GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Seniors in town are getting a helping hand during these hot summer months .
Gray Gourmet, the local Meals on Wheels in the Grand Valley is not only delivering meals to local seniors but providing wellness checks as well.
Volunteers drive over 20 routes per day and to about 9 dining sites serving around 1,500 people a year.
Gray Gourmet said during the summer months some seniors are not living in the best circumstances and aren't provided with proper care.
"A couple of our drivers found one of our clients on the ground, unresponsive and they were able to call 911. The client had a stroke, because they were able to get to the hospital. The client is fine," said Amanda Debock, Program Manager at Gray Gourmet.
The organization is always looking for volunteers.
