GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - One local health company makes the switch from western-style medicine to alternative medicine to help patients look further into what's going on in their body.
Healing Horizons held their first Health Screening and Wellness Expo Saturday morning to give locals the chance to understand all types of health issues and find other ways, besides common medicine, to help them.
The health fair offered alternative medicines like acupuncture, cupping, taking a pulse, and tongue readings --to educate patients on their health.
The free services also included blood work processed by students from Intellitec College who partnered with Healing Horizons --it helped them get some hands on experience.
"Being able to bring them out into the real world and give them a taste of what their careers are going to look like is phenomenal for them, so they get really excited and just the feeling of being able to give back to the community is exciting for them," said Program Supervisor Christopher Gulledge.
Doctor of Chiropractic and Functional Medicine Practioner Carolyn Gochee said, "I love what I do. I love getting patients better and it is so nice to have other clinicians that have the same passion as I do and they want to have the same goal in mind as getting patients better."
