GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -“We’ve doubled our numbers;” Paige Cadman shares, “we’ll have about 700 meals delivered by 200 volunteers. The need is just so big this year that we’re really glad that we were able to help out.”
Up on the hilltop, and just because, holiday dinners are made for a good cause.
Hilltop stepped up to support St. Mary’s “Meals on Wheels” staff with a much needed day off, by providing their clients a dinner made with love. The meals will be prepared by the facility’s kitchens, featuring several parts of a classic plate.
“We do a very traditional Christmas Eve meal;” Mike Green shares, “so we have turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, apple pie, so it’s a true, festive Christmas Eve meal with all the fixings.”
“After six years of giving back, Hilltop was not gonna let a pandemic break this tradition.” Cora Dickey states
Volunteers are made up of both Hilltop employees and people in the community. The deliveries were organized through a drive-through pick-up system.
“We’re really thankful to have an opportunity to give back to our community this year,” Katie Sweet says, “and this was a great chance with Hilltop letting us deliver food to seniors out in the community.”
With numbers beyond the expectation, Hilltop’s team is about having zero waste in food and are set to have no leftovers.
