Holiday Pet Food Drive with Sky Canyon and Roice-Hurst

Local News

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — With the holiday season now in full swing, we want to make sure you don’t forget your best friends– your pets.

Two local businesses are coming together to take care of our furry friends and their owners this holiday season.

Sky Canyon Veterinary Hospital is hosting a holiday pet food drive, with all proceeds going to Roice-Hurst Humane Society.

This is Sky Canyon’s second year hosting the food drive, and the turn out so far has been amazing.

We were looking at our numbers, and we may have doubled, easily, and we hope to do even more.

You can drop off your items at Sky Canyon Veterinary Hospital until December 18th.

Although Sky Canyon has done very well so far, one thing they still need especially badly is wet cat food.

We have a ferral cat population here in town, so alot of people have been bringing kittens inside as they found them, so we have a massive network of foster families.

Although, they do need more than just cat food. Some essentials may not immediately come to mind. Roice-Hurst Humane Society explains how items like cleaning supplies and laundry detergent are very important to them.

Things like laundry detergent, every bit of bedding has to be washed and laundered for the animals, and everything you think a pet might need, we need that times 1,000.

Roice-Hurst also explains how they are not just using the donated items for their animals, but they are stepping out of the box, into their community.

When somebody is struggling to feed their pet, and they are in a short term crisis, we can help them with pet food.
