GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- As Mesa County is slowly reopening businesses again, Governor Polis says Coloradans must continue safety precautions.
Governor Polis said people in Colorado still need to wear masks, even as businesses reopen. The Governor says this is an important part of our economy returning back to normal.
“If wearing a mask…is the price we have to pay…to go to church again or having larger gatherings..go skiing, go out to eat..I think that is the price most of are willing to pay..” Governor Jared Polis
Mesa County is in phase 1 of reopening, which allows restaurants, hair salons, even certain city facilities to reopen.
“”We have been able to open up tennis courts…basketball courts…thing of that nature..but not playgrounds.” Greg Caton, City Manager
As things continue to open up in Mesa County, some people are continuing to wear masks, while others are not.
“it is a variety of compliance..it is a diverse community and I think our self precautions are related to that.” Greg Caton, City Manager
But even if you are personally against wearing a mask, Governor Polis, believes it is the key to getting our economy back to normal.
“i want to reopen our economy sooner or later…and mask wearing is important and I want to make sure people get that message..you will get use to it quickly.” Governor Jared Polis
