Colorado
Hunters are heading to the high country this weekend to hunt deer and elk through October 27th, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife has a message: please be careful with your campfire.
Colorado has received little moisture since late summer, and several fires are burning throughout the state.
CPW has a list of precautions for both hunters and campers which include:
-Keep fires small, and keep them attended.
-Before you sleep make sure you completely drown the fire.
-Any time you leave camp, make sure the fire is out.
-If it’s windy, it’s recommended not to start a campfire.
-Don’t drive or park your vehicle over dry vegetation. Hot exhaust pipes can ignite dry grass.
-Don’t drag chains on the road causing sparks.
-Dispose of cigarette butts safely.
