Increase in Golfing due to the Pandemic

GRAND JUNCTION, COLO.- Golf is gaining popularity due to Covid-19. Local Golf Course owner, Sandra Weckerly, who owns Redlands Mesa Golf Club says she has seen an increase of golfers.

“We have seen our rounds go up by 20% to 25% since the beginning of the pandemic” Sandra Weckerly, Redlands Mesa Golf Club

Weckerly believes some of the reasons for the uptick is because golf is naturally a socially distanced sport. She adds,”people have been in quarantine and want to come outside and enjoy the outdoors.”

A golfer, Phill Holmes, from the Front Range agrees the course has been crowded since the pandemic. He says, “Coming out here is a great way to come outside and get exercise and social distance.”
