Lions Club Unveil Bench for Members’ 40 Years of Service

Local News

Larry Jones and Brian Mahoney made their vision a reality for the public to enjoy at the riverfront trail. The Lions Club, as a whole, expressed its gratitude for these long-term members with a bench engraving their impact on the community.

A few fellow members gave heartfelt testimonies as witnesses to what the club has accomplished. The honorees had no clue about the purpose of the meeting.

“This was a total shock, with the award and the presentation today,” Larry Jones confesses, “I didn’t expect anything. I came down here for just, kinda, an orientation on how we acquired Watson Island, the Lions Club’s involvement, that sort of thing, but I didn’t expect this bench to be dedicated to us. A total surprise.”

Neither Jones or Mahoney plan on retiring from the club anytime soon, rather they plan to continue their service for years to come.
