Local resident to contribute 1 million dollars toward purchase of Glacier Ice Arena

Local News

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A local Grand Junction resident is generously offering to contribute 1 Million Dollars to any buyer who purchases the Glacier Ice Arena and keeps it running as an ice rink. The Glacier Ice Arena is currently listed for sale for a price of 2 Million Dollars and this donor hopes that this generous offer will provide a public or private purchaser or group of purchasers to acquire the facility and continue its operations. The Glacier Ice Arena is 1 of approximately 14 ice rinks on the Western Slope of Colorado and is the only one currently privately owned.

The benefactor, who desires to remain anonymous at this time, feels that losing this valuable asset would be a detriment to the Grand Junction area community and the hockey players (including CMU’s Hockey team), figure skaters, beginning skaters, public skaters and spectators who have enjoyed the facility. In addition, hundreds of local non-profit groups, churches, and private businesses have rented the Glacier facility for their special events.
