GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- After a week frosted with preorders, people are lined up to get The Baker’s Boutique’s gifts from the heart. This partnership between Marillac Health and The Baker’s Boutique sells cupcakes to provide funding for healthcare for thousands of Mesa County residents.
At $20 a box, both sides have a goal to sell 500 boxes, raising a total of $10,000.
“We sell cupcakes to support healthcare, while may seem a little silly but it’s a really fun connection,” Martha Graf reflects, “It’s a fun way for people to support quality healthcare in Mesa County for people who, otherwise, may not be able to afford it.”
500 boxes means making 2,000 cupcakes, a large order Callie Ash and her team were ready to fill.
“It really takes a village. it takes everyone on our staff; we have bakers, we have decorators, we have frosters,” Callie Ash describes, “We come at the crack of dawn. we work really hard to get it done.”
“To keep spreading the love, and get in the spirit of the holiday, each box of cupcakes came with its own Valentine’s Day card to help thank people for their purchase,” Cora Dickey shares.
With a goal set to sell 500 boxes, people were willing to buy as many they could. The Mesa Thespian Society bought $300 worth, to have enough for its plans this weekend.
“I don’t think there’s gonna be any leftover, because we’re doing two events,” Kira Wennerstrom predicts, “We’re doing a movie night and raising awareness event and so, hopefully, our big order will cover all of the events.”
There’s less than a hundred boxes available to purchase before Valentine’s Day. Orders can either be picked up in the shop or delivered curbside.
