GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Masks are now required in Colorado, and in many other places across the country. Some Coloradans say masks aren’t comfortable, in fact, opinions about masks vary. But for some, you can see the inconvenience of wearing a mask well after its removed.
We are talking about ‘maskne’.
If you have acne from wearing a mask, you aren’t alone.
A local Aesthetician says Maskne is an Acne Mechanica, a complexion issue some mask wearers are experiencing, even if they don’t generally get acne. It has nothing to do with hormones it just means a third party object is causing the breakouts.
“It’s from the moisture from talking, all the debris and dirt clog those pores.” – Krissy Bennett, Valley Surgical, Aesthetics and Vein Care
Thankfully, there are ways to treat maskne.
Krissy recommends taking as many breaks as you can from your mask throughout the day, especially when it’s hot out. She also emphasizes the importance of washing sanitizing your mask daily. Lastly, Krissy recommends washing your face daily and using topical treatments containing sasylic acid, and sulfur.
