GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado has administered over 1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. In Mesa County, 5,000 residents are fully vaccinated. Mesa County Public Health officials say, 1,000 vaccines are given out per day at the Grand Junction Convention Center. But MCPH Executive Director, Jeff Kuhr says that number can increase in the future.
As Mesa County moves to yellow on the covid dial, Kuhr says the improvements come before experiencing the benefits of vaccinations.
With daily vaccination numbers increasing, the recent string of winter storms throughout the country stalled traffic on highways and in return, the delivery of vaccines to states. However, Kuhr says this will not impact Mesa County Public Health’s vaccine shipment for next week.
