MESA COUNTY, Colo. — Mesa County Public Health plans to partner with a private medical company called Mako Medical in an effort to speed up COVID-19 testing and accessibility.
The testing change will go into effect next Tuesday, September 1st.
Mako Medical is already partnered with the state health department in Colorado.
Mesa County Public Health tells us Mako Medical will administer and analyze the tests which will allow more testing capacity and greater turnaround time.
Mesa County Public Health’s director says results will be available no more than 48 hours after your test and testing site hours will be Tuesday-Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm. You don’t need to call for an appointment ahead of time.
“The biggest change is it’s not going to be apportionment based. They’re going to be available for so many hours at such a quick rate. The throughput will be much greater. They’re expecting to be able to handle drive-up traffic,” says Mesa County Public Health’s Executive Director, Jeff Kuhr.
