Meat-in Day to celebrate local ranchers and agriculture

Saturday will be all about the beef.

Mesa County Commissioners unanimously voted to approve a resolution calling March 20th “Meat-in Day.” The decision comes in support of the local agriculture industry which statewide is a $3.4 billion industry. Mesa County will have a few options to enjoy local meats and bbq as part of the day.

In Grand Junction, Mesa County Republican Women are hosting a BBQ from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at 725 Pitkin Ave. Anyone interested in attending must RSVP by Friday to Dave Alley via phone or email: davealley5@msn.com | 970-640-2572

In DeBeque, local businesses are putting together a celebration of their own. West 4th Street will be the host site of a BBQ Block Party from 3 p.m. until 7:30. Immediately following the party, a live music performance will take place at the Wild Horse Roadhouse.
