GRAND JUNCTION, Colo- Mesa County Public Health expects to administer approximately 1,500 vaccines per day, a new high at the convention center.

As more vaccines become available, vaccination efforts at the convention center are ramping up. Colorado, now in Phase 1B.3 is expanding eligibility to those 60 and up, people 16-59 with two high risk medical conditions, and frontline workers in grocery and agriculture.

For Bruce Talbott, owner of Talbott Farms, getting workers on his orchard vaccinated is a huge sigh of relief. Talbott says an outbreak could among his staff could waste a year of work, which would deal a huge economic hit to his farm.

More than 33,000 vaccine doses have been administered across the county. Having three available vaccines and eligible populations growing, Mesa County Public Health’s Jeff Kuhr is confident the improved vaccination numbers will help the county move from yellow to blue on the state’s COVID Dial in the coming days.
