Missing since June 5: Eagle County boy with autism

Local News

EAGLE, Colo. (AP) –The search for a 3-year-old boy missing since Friday is focusing on the Eagle River after a piece of his clothing and a phone was found there. The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said the phone that Sebastian Rodriguez Castro was carrying when he went missing was found Sunday in the river below the apartment complex in Eagle where he lives.

The discovery came after crews expanded the search area downstream after finding a piece of the boy’s clothing in the river late Saturday. The sheriff’s office estimates that between 500 and 600 volunteers and first responders have searched for Sebastian.

He is autistic and non-verbal, and not comfortable with adults he does not know. The family is asking that anyone helping to look for please do not scream, yell or shout his name. He responds well to kid’s songs and animal noises, loves colorful things, water and insects. He is a heavy sleeper and like to sleep in tight small spaces.
