Montrose couple dead, allegedly killed by son

MONTROSE, Colo. — Authorities say a Western Slope couple is dead, allegedly killed by their own son.

Police in El Paso, Texas have arrested and charged 35-year-old Benjamin Duncan with the murder of his parents.

68-year-old Julie Duncan and 67-year-old Richard Duncan, both of Montrose, Colorado, were found with stab wounds.

According to a press release issued by the department, Benjamin called police early Thursday morning to report killing his parents.

Officers arrived, entered the residence and found the suspect, who immediately surrendered.

The mother was pronounced dead on scene, and the father was transported to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Benjamin Duncan was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for capital murder with a one million dollar bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
