MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) — May is historic preservation month, a chance to celebrate historic places and help promote their preservation.
A statewide celebrating main streets campaign is underway to highlight public art, unique events and iconic buildings.
Colorado’s Department of Local Affairs is heading an effort to gather people’s stories about these important streets and asking them to respond to a survey about their experiences and favorite places.
Michelle Wingfield from DOLA tells us the response will be helpful to people visiting the town.
Visitors to the main street who fill out the survey will have their responses mapped on a GIS system, allowing others to look and find recommendations for their own adventures.
