Motorcycle vs. Semi-truck collision leaves one dead

UPDATE: The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has completed its examination regarding the death of
Randall Gehl, a 50-year-old male resident of Grand Junction, Colorado. Mr. Gehl was the male involved in the motorcycle fatality on September 1, 2020. He was pronounced dead on scene as the result of the multiple injuries he sustained. Toxicology is pending at this time.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A deadly traffic collision involving a motorcycle happened Tuesday afternoon in Mesa County.

Shortly before 1 p.m., authorities responded to reports of an accident involving a semi-truck and a motorcycle along highway 6 and 50 at Milepost 24 near 20 Road.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the man driving the motorcycle was killed in the incident.

No injuries were reported for the man behind the wheel of the semi.

So far, officials have not released any details on how the accident happened. At last report, the highway near 20 Road is still closed while authorities investigate.

The identity of the motorcycle rider has not yet been released.
