Local News

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Calling all mountain bikers. Healthy Mesa County and several other community partners are excited to announce the mountain bike film fest taking place on Tuesday, September 14th.

Doors at the Avalon Theatre, for the Grand Valley Mountain Bike Film Fest will open at 6:30PM and the show will run from 7 to 9PM. The event will feature five mountain bike films, speakers from local bike advocacy groups, and door prizes.

Tickets are still available and all proceeds will be used towards new trail production at 18 road in Fruita, one of the Grand Valley’s most popular mountain biking destinations.

This project is almost four years in the making, and as Mesa County Public Health Trails Coordinator tells us, the trails are the last piece of the puzzle.
“It is one of the most highly visited trail systems in our valley if not the most utilized by locals and tourists and the opportunity to camp out there and ride for a whole weekend is attractive to a lot of different people to really connect with nature and get outside,” Ross Mittleman, Trails Coordinator said, “Overall its a large scale capital infrastructure improvement and trails are basically the last piece that will tie it together.”
