MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) — For the first time in 3 years homicide has been committed in Montrose County.

Sheriff Gene Lillard said the incident started as road rage and then escalated. “[it] stemmed from a road rage incident where the two parties actually had words against each other,” said Sheriff Lillard.

Authorities found the body in the street. “They got to the scene where they were able to try CPR on the decedent. It appeared that he had been shot,” said Sheriff Lillard.

Sheriff Lillard said the incident was called in by the person who said they committed the crime.

Authorities have released the name and mug shot of the alleged perpetrator. His name is Mark Miller and he is currently charged with second-degree murder. His bond is set at $150,000.


Mark Miller’s bond is now set at $75,000. The name of the victim has been released. He has been identified as Jonas Najar Jr., 41, from Olathe. The official cause of death is still under investigation by the Montrose County Coroner. Miller is being held in the Montrose County Jail.
