The Museum of the West wants to take you through 11,000 years of the area’s history, through the evolution of man’s weaponry.

From spears and bow and arrows, to rifles and the atomic bomb the exhibit explores how humans have protected, provided, and defended themselves through history.
Using weaponry as markers through time, the museum hopes visitors will appreciate the vast number of groups that have lived in what’s now western Colorado.
The museum is also unveiling weapons they haven’t been displayed in forty years, and includes some of the rarest weaponry in the world…

“We have a colt revolving rifle which is incredibly rare, it’s like a pistol with an elongated barrel and stock it’s one of the rarest rifles and you hardly ever see one ” said David Bailey the museum’s curator of history.

The exhibit will be at the museum through February.
